KTR slams Congress on Kaleshwaram: Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy have no idea on engineering

HYDERABAD: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has lashed out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for making corruption charges against Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), which is providing drinking water at the doorstep of every home in Telangana.

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi and TPCC president A Revanth Reddy's visit to the KLIS, KTR termed Revanth Reddy as 'Telangana Pappu', Rahul Gandhi as 'India Pappu'. "Rahul Gandhi speaking about corruption in the KLIS is devils quoting scripture. Are they both engineers? In what capacity they are carrying out the false propaganda that Lakshmi Barrage at Medigadda is sinking," KTR said.

The BRS Working President ridiculed Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy for posting photographs of the joint expansion of the barrage and carrying out the malicious propaganda that Lakshmi Barrage would sink. "This is proof of their ignorance about irrigation projects. The KLIS is a boon for Telangana and the Congress is a curse to the country," he said.

KTR said that Rahul Gandhi did not know history and he was not in a position to pursue it. He advised Gandhi scion to change his script or else change his script writer. He also alleged that the Jala Yagnam scheme launched by the previous Congress was turned into 'Dhana Yagnam', which made Congress leaders rich.

Taking aim at Revanth Reddy, KTR said that the TPCC president was more dangerous than Dawood Irabhim and Charles Sobharaj. Revanth Reddy was a "thief" who was caught in the cash-for-vote scam in 2015 and said he was now selling 'seats for notes' before elections. He added that Revanth Reddy was using elections as an ATM, and was now being called 'Rate-Entha Reddy'.

“Congress is nothing but Scamgress,” said KTR. Listing Congress’s scams, he mentioned A-Adarsh Scam, B-Bofors Scam, and C- Common Wealth Scam and said the list was endless. He added that Union Ministers, State Ministers, and the Prime Minister of the Congress went to jail on the charges of corruption and that talking about honesty and integrity was a big joke.

“When the Telangana Government spent Rs 80,000 crore on the KLIS, how can 1 lakh crore corruption take place?” KTR asked. He said that Congress in 2008 laid a plan for the Pranahita project at an estimated cost of Rs. 40,000 crores and there were no reservoirs, canals, or pump houses. KTR asked if the estimates would not increase after 15 years and also recalled the days when people played cricket in the SRSP canal in Manakondur as there was no water in Congress governance.

KTR said that Lakshmi Barrage, Medigadda was constructed in a place where Sabari, Pranahitha, and Godavari meet. The intention was to maintain water in the Pranahita River to face drought conditions, if any, in the future, he said, and added that the BRS Government constructed reservoirs, canals, barrages, and pump houses. Talking about the capacities, he said that Mallanna Sagar has 50 TMC, Ranganayaka Sagar three TMC, and Konda Pochamma Sagar 12 TMC.

KTR also said that Telangana ranked number one in agri production and this became a reality after the BRS Government constructed over 10 Barrages and reservoirs like Sundilla, Annaram, Medigadda, Mallanna Sagar, Ranganayaka Sagar, Kondapochama Sagar, Gandhamalla.
