Lakes, ponds plush with water are proof of KCR’s commitment to irrigation: KTR
Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao handed over 560 double bedroom houses, developed at a cost of Rs 33 crore, to the beneficiaries in Yerragunta village of Jadcherla Assembly constituency
HYDERABAD: Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday handed over 560 double bedroom houses, developed at a cost of Rs 33 crore, to the beneficiaries in Yerragunta village of Jadcherla Assembly constituency in Mahabubnagar district.
Addressing a public gathering on this occasion, KTR said that, following the call of the Chief MInister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), people of Telangana were engrossed in celebrations (cheruvula samburalu) at the lakes and ponds – filled to the brim – which were repaired as part of Mission Kakatiya. “While flying into Mahabubnagar, we noticed that all the lakes and ponds were filled with water even during the scorching summer. This itself is a proof of the commitment of the Chief Minister towards the irrigation sector,” he said.
The minister said that MLA Lakshma Reddy had shown him Uddandapur and Karivena projects from the skies and stated that if these projects were completed, around 1.44 lakh acres would get water. “Once the Krishna River water also reaches Jadcherla, decades-old water problems plaguing Palamuru residents will come to an end. This is an example of what a leader and public representative can do to people,’’ KTR said.
Elaborating further, KTR said that around 5,000 acres would get water if check dams were constructed in Midjil. Out of 628 ponds in the constituency, the BRS government has repaired 371 at a cost of Rs 80 crores, benefiting the gangaputras, mudiraj and farming communities, he said. He also took exception to the Congress leaders making abusive remarks against Lakshma Reddy during the former’s recent padayatra in Jadcherla Assembly constituency. He found fault with the opposition party leaders for indulging in gimmicks of this nature, at a time when Telangana was celebrating decennial celebrations.
KTR said that the BRS government had completed all the pending projects in Palamuru and the water would flow into Palamuru-Rangareddy project in August, 2023. He promised to upgrade Jadcherla as Grade-I municipality by sanctioning Rs 30 crore.
Ministers V Srinivas Goud and Ch. Malla Reddy and other public representatives also participated in the event.
