HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted moderate to heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the next four days beginning from Monday, due to the influence of the low pressure forming in the Bay of Bengal.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Telangana for the next four days. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Hyderabad in the next 24 hours. Residents are advised to take the necessary precautions and plan their travel accordingly. Hyderabad and its surrounding districts, including Sangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Medak are most likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall.

While districts in the northern parts of Telangana including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Vikarabad and Sangareddy districts were expected to receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday. The IMD forecast for the next few days indicated that overcast conditions accompanied by incessant showers are expected to remain active for the entire week till next July 23, 2023. The forecast also alerted people that the heavy downpour is expected to be accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.

Heavy rain is very likely to occur in isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem ASifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Siricilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Medchal Malkajgiri, Medak and Kamareddy districts on Wednesday. So far during this monsoon season, along with Hyderabad, close to 20 districts in Telangana have reported deficient rainfall, the IMD stated.

Taking to Twitter, T Balaji, popularly known as, Telangana Weatherman predicted that widespread intermittent moderate-heavy rains are expected in many parts of North and East Telangana on Monday. “Weather will be cool and windy. Hyderabad will have on and off showers/light rain today, high chances of rain during night,” he said.

In Andhra Pradesh, the surface circulation has turned into low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal and would intensify into a cyclonic system by Tuesday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are very likely to occur due to low pressure area impact in the Bay of Bengal, the IMD said.

Taking to Twitter, Sai Kiran, popularly known as Vizag Weatherman said, “The low-pressure impact will be mostly on North Telangana, South Odisha, Chhattisgarh and adjoining Uttarandhra, Godavari and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh during the next one week. Moderate to heavy rain and extremely heavy rains are expected in a few areas,”.
