JADCHERLA: TPCC Senior Vice President Dr Mallu Ravi on Friday resigned from the post of Special Representative of the Telangana Government in Delhi.

Speaking to media persons, Mallu Ravi said that he resigned from the post to ensure that it did not become an obstacle in securing a party ticket from the Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha constituency. Stating that he was qualified to get the party ticket and all surveys were pointing towards his possible victory, he said that the party must give an explanation to the people if it decided to deny him a ticket.

However, Mallu Ravi said that the decision on whether or not to accept his resignation from the Special Representative's post rested with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He said he did not apply for a ticket in the last Assembly election as he aspired to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Nagarkurnool constituency.

He also announced that State Minister Jupalli Krishan Rao was supporting his candidature.

Mallu Ravi said that he resigned from the post in accordance with the Congress party's Udaipur Declaration, which said that no one should hold more than one post. In other parties, he said leaders held more than one post. For instance, Vijayasai Reddy was a Member of Parliament and also the Special Representative of the Andhra Pradesh Government in Delhi.
