Minister Ponnam and Mayor Vijayalakshmi protest negligence at Yellamma festival arrangements

HYDERABAD: In a strange development, a minister and mayor protested against the officials of their own government, alleging poor arrangements for the annual temple festival.
Transport and Hyderabad District Incharge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi expressed their disappointment over the poor arrangements made for the annual Yellamma Ammavur Kalyanam festival at the Yellamma Pochamma Devasthanam in Balkampet on Tuesday.
In a protest against the negligence, the Minister and Mayor sat outside the temple, alleging a protocol violation. They directed their anger towards District Collector Anudeep Durishetty, who is responsible for the festival's arrangements. The officials complained about the lack of proper security in front of the temple during the arrival of VVIPs.
The Yellamma Kalyanam festival at the Yellamma Pochamma temple in Balkampet is scheduled from July 8 to 10. The Kalyanotsavam is on July 9, and the Rathotsavam is on July 10.
