Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, D Sridhar Babu to review Kaleshwaram project at Medigadda on December 29

On Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy and Sridhar Babu will leave for Medigadda in a helicopter from Hyderabad at 10 am. At the barrage, irrigation department officials will give a powerpoint presentation on the Kaleswaram project.

HYDERABAD: After releasing a white paper on the health on finance and power sectors in Telangana, the newly elected Congress Government has turned its focus on the Kaleshwaram project. On December 29, 2023, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu will review a powerpoint presentation on the project at the Medigadda barrage.

The Kaleshwaram project was one of the key agendas of the Telangana elections with the Congress alleging that the BRS Government swindled Rs 1 lakh crore of public money from the project. A few days before the elections, pillars of the Medigadda barrage caved in raising doubts over the quality of construction.

On Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy and Sridhar Babu will leave for Medigadda in a helicopter from Hyderabad at 10 am. At the barrage, irrigation department officials will give a powerpoint presentation on the Kaleswaram project.

The primary aim of the presentation would be to share details on the advantages and disadvantages of constructing the Kaleshwaram project, the project cost, additional acreage brought under cultivation, new ayacut created and stabilisation of the ayacut, quality of construction and the massive power needed to pump water from the project.

Instructions have also been issued to the irrigation department to ensure the participation of officials involved in the Kaleshwaram project, construction agencies, contractors and sub-contractors for clarification. The Ministers would also review the issues related to Sundilla and Annaram barrages, which are the components of the Kaleshwaram project.
