HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Meteorological Department (HMD) said that Telangana was likely to witness heavy rains in many parts on Saturday. It gave warnings of gusty winds of 30-40 km per hour and heavy rain storms on Friday.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains were likely to occur between August 7 and 9 with 12 to 20 cm of rain to be recorded in some areas with just a few hours of rain.

The weather department also issued a warning that there were chances of heavy rains above 20 cm. Director of Meteorological Center Nagaratna said that the Telangana government and National Disaster Management Team (NDRF) have been informed about this.

Gangadhara of Karimnagar district received the highest rainfall of 15.5 cm on Thursday, followed by Tandur of Mancherial district with 13.2 cm and Old Rajampet of Kamareddy district received 11.6 cm.

On the other hand, the surface trough, formed on Wednesday, over West Central Bay of Bengal around the AP coast continued till Thursday and was 0.9 km above the mean sea level from Vidarbha and Telangana. It was also said that low pressure would form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas of the west-central Bay of Bengal. Due to this,there was a possibility of heavy rain in Adilabad, Nirmal, Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.
