BALKONDA: Striking an emotional chord with the people of Balkonda, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) recalled that Mothe village was the first panchayat to pass a unanimous resolution seeking separate Telangana.

Addressing Praja Ashirvada Sabha in Balkonda on Thursday, KCR said that he visited Mothe to pick up a sample of its soil, packed it as a ‘Mudupu’, and kept it aside. “After Telangana was formed, I returned to Mothe and spread the soil on the holy land of Mothe as a gesture of thanksgiving,” KCR said.

Calling upon the people of the Balkonda Assembly segment under which the Mothe village was a part, KCR said that voters must also consider the party behind the person before they decide to vote. “Unfortunately we lack that kind of a debate on political issues. In the USA the candidate was chosen based on a series of TV debates. In India we still address these huge rallies,” he pointed out.

He urged people to discuss, debate and then vote. He said that the then Congress Government killed farmers by police firing when they demanded a fair price for red corn. “Hence, it is important to which party and which idealogy is working behind a candidate. Here I vouch for Prashanth Reddy, he is like my son, nothing more to say,” the BRS chief said.

Assuring further enhancement of social welfare schemes after winning the elections, KCR said that the only Telangana that handed over pension to beedi workers out of the 17 Indian States that produced beedies.
