HYDERABAD: The gates of the Musi project in Nalgonda district are likely to be lifted, government officials said on Wednesday.

The Musi continues to flood due to heavy rains in the State's upland areas. They issued an alert to people in the lower reaches of the river basin to be vigilant as the gates are likely to be lifted.

According to them, the maximum height till which water could be stored was 645 ft and that water had reached 644 ft. The authorities said that the gates would be lifted and water would be released into the river and alerted the people at the low-lying river banks.

The Hyderabad Meteorological Department had predicted heavy rains in Telangana. They said that heavy rains were likely in many parts of the state and some places were likely to witness light to moderate rainfall over the next few days.
