HYDERABAD: The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has cleared 23 different development projects including the Lakshmipur lift irrigation project of Telangana that were pending for a long time.

A green signal for the Lakshmipur lift irrigation project to be built under the Kaddem project was given by the NBWL in New Delhi on Tuesday after thorough deliberations with a delegation from State Forest Department.

Rakesh Mohan Dobriyal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) of Telangana informed that 3.71 hectares of forest land would now be made available to the State Government to take up the project to be built on the left bank of the Kaddem project.

The Telangana Government approved the project in August 2022, to lift 0.23 TMC of water from Kaddem a tributary of Godavari to cater to the farming needs of the Khanapur division at a cost of Rs 40.1 crore.

The delegation from the State Forest Department, succeded in getting the necessary approvals from the NBWL for the expansion of roads in 11 Maoist-infested districts, five panchayat raj roads, expansion of electric lines in Kaghaznagar division of Komram Bhim Asifabad district.
