HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) senior leader and Telangana Finance Minister Harish Rao has said that it is only because of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's (KCR) efforts that Telangana has been able to develop on all fronts.

Speaking at 'Meet the Press' event here on Wednesday, Harish Rao said, "There are three parameters on which a State can be judged: Comparing the works of the previous State Government with the current Government, development of neighbouring States versus our State or the rankings accorded by the Centre.

"In the first parameter, there is a difference of heaven and earth. If we look at the second parameter, there is no State which has been able to match the scale of development and welfare of Telangana. In the third parameter, Telangana, which is just 3 per cent of India's population is getting 30 per cent of the awards," Harish said.

Harish Rao said that KCR was running a regime where over 90 per cent of the promises made in the manifesto have been implemented but the same was not delivered by the Congress in Karnataka. "Farmer welfare schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima have been implemented even though they were not promised in the manifesto. It is only because of KCR's vision that we have overcome the shortage of electricity. We provide quality electricity to consumers without power cuts. The Congress on the other hand had promised to provide 5 hours of electricity in Karnataka. Currently farmers are not even given 2 hours of electricity in that State."

The Minister added that due to schemes like Mission Kakatiya, ponds in villages have been replenished and ground water level in the State had increased massively. Harish also said that 6 lakh new IT jobs were created during the ten-year rule of the BRS Government and that 90,000 Government jobs have been provided.
