HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange Alert,' indicating that the Telangana state would experience a severe heatwave over the next two days.

According to IMD, the maximum temperatures for June 16, 2023 are very likely to be in the 41°C - 44°C range. Severe heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets in the districts Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda.

An extreme heat wave is expected to hit a few isolated Telangana districts, including Adilabad, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Nalgonda, and Suryapet on Friday.

The IMD issued a yellow warning on June 17 indicating that maximum temperatures are highly likely to range between 40°C and 43°C / Heat wave conditions. The districts of Telangana most likely to be affected are Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet.

IMD has advised everyone to stay indoors, particularly senior citizens, newborns, and people with chronic conditions, to avoid undue heat exposure.

IMD has also urged individuals to dress in lightweight, light-colored, flowy cotton clothing. They also advised covering one's head with a cloth, hat, or umbrella and staying hydrated to avoid dehydration.

June 17 : Heat wave conditions are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad and Komaram Bheem. Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet are in Telangana.
