HYDERABAD: The Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS), under the leadership of Prof. Kodandaram, has opted to refrain from actively participating in the Telangana elections this time and has decided to throw its support behind the Congress party.

Prof. Kodandaram announced this decision following a meeting with Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy and other Congress party leaders at his office on Monday. During this meeting, Revanth Reddy requested the support of TJS for the upcoming elections scheduled for November 30.

Reportedly, Prof. Kodandaram sought assurances from the Congress that if they were to come into power, they would adhere to the TJS agenda, particularly focused on employment opportunities and upholding the self-respect of the people. He emphasised that for Telangana to progress with dignity and inclusive development, the 'autocratic and corrupt' rule of the BRS needed to be replaced.

In a statement to media, Revanth Reddy acknowledged Prof. Kodandaram's nine-year-long battle against the autocratic tendencies of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR). He stressed the importance of continuing this fight, emphasizing the need to remove the corrupt Government. Revanth Reddy expressed gratitude for TJS's unconditional support.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted that the allocation of seats and vote count paled in comparison to the ultimate goal of ousting KCR from power. He indicated that TJS would play a significant role in a future Congress Government. Revanth Reddy also made allegations against certain police officials, suggesting that they were operating as a private army for KCR, and asserted that they would be held accountable under the law once the Congress assumed power.
