HYDERABAD: It was a reunion of sorts, with alumni being retired bureaucrats.

Retired IAS officers, who spent decades contributing their mite for the growth process of the State (earlier Andhra Pradesh and now Telangana) from the precincts of the Secretariat that was razed and a new magnificent edifice is built there, visited the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat building on Saturday evening.

They were supremely impressed by the new elegant building that is the seat of power of the State.

The former bureaucrats were left in awe by its impressive architecture and facilities. They expressed their appreciation for the construction of the state administrative building, considering it an ideal model for the country.

On Saturday evening, Chief Secretary of the State Government A Santhi Kumari hosted a tea party at the Telangana Secretariat in the honour of retired IAS officers on the instruction of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.A large number of retired officers from various batches, along with their family members, attended the reunion.

Retired IAS officers who graced the secretariat included Anil Kumar Kutty, K Sujatha Rao, VP Jauhari, PC Parekh, KV Rao, Rajeev Sharma, SK Joshi, K Jayabharatha Reddy, P K Rastogi, Minnie Mathews, A.K. Goyal, Dinakar Babu, G. Sudhir, T. S. Appa rao, G. Nagi Reddy, and Raymond Peter.

The Chief Secretary who spoke about the development and welfare programmes implemented in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR highlighted the rapid construction of the secretariat and its unique features. She said that it was built in a remarkably short time. A coffee table book showcasing the development and welfare programs in Telangana and offerings from the Yadadri temple were presented to the retired officials.

The Chief Secretary also provided the officials with a detailed presentation on the state's progress over the past nine years. The presentation was organised by K. Ashok Reddy, Special Commissioner of the Department of Information and Public Relations.

During their visit, the retired officers had the opportunity to explore the Secretariat. They visited different chambers, including the CM Chamber and CS Chamber, and examined the arrangements besides visiting the newly constructed temple, mosque, and church within the premises. The retired officers praised the impressive construction of the new Secretariat and commended the state's unparalleled development. They lauded the various developmental and welfare initiatives undertaken by the Telangana state government and the advanced media monitoring system in the CM’s PRO office.

Senior IAS officers of the state government, along with special chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries, and heads of various departments, participated in the event along with their seniors who came visiting them.
