HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked the officials to clamp down on the circulation and use of narcotics in the State. He participated in a review meeting on ‘Narcotics Control’ held at Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat here on Monday.

Revanth Reddy called upon the officials to initiate strict action against those in case of drug use or sale in the State. He asked the officials to appoint a permanent director to the existing Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) and strengthen the department. Officials should procure necessary funds, resources and other facilities to the department, he said and asked them to give utmost priority to prevention of sale and circulation of narcotics.

The Chief Minister said that steps should be taken by the officials and ensure the functioning of TSNAB on the lines of Greyhounds and Octopus to make Telangana a drug-free State. Minister for Excise Jupalli Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, DGP Ravi Gupta, officials from excise and prohibition, drug control board and police were also present.
