HYDERABAD: “If the Congress Party is voted to power, we will give Rs 2 lakh loan waiver to farmers, Rs. 5 lakh to each poor person for the construction of a house and will fill two lakh jobs within a year of assuming office,” said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, TPCC President Revanth Reddy hoisted the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan. Revanth Reddy said during his Independence Day speech that the Congress party would provide a waiver of Rs 2 lakh to take farmers, offer gas cylinders for Rs. 500, and support girl child education.

The Congress government would also offer medical insurance up to Rs. 5 lakh through Arogyasri, he added.

The TPCC president slammed Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to meet the people's expectations.

He said, "The BJP-led Union Government has landed the country in deep trouble. The financial burden of the country has more than doubled, and the unemployment crisis is rampant in the country now. Modi has taken to twice as much debt in eight years as Nehru to Manmohan Singh did in 60 years.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have failed to save Manipur from the tragic violence that killed hundreds of locals. Instead of sending the army to Manipur to stop it, the ED and CBI were sent to defeat the Congress and to target the opposite leaders," alleged Revanth Reddy.

He said that the KCR administration sold out expensive lands in Hyderabad and his family looted Rs 1 lakh crore and encroached upon 10,000 acres of land. “We will review the lands sold by the BRS government,” he added.

When discussing the sacrifice of Congress leaders for the sake of the country's independence, Revanth Reddy said, "Lakhs of Congress cadres sacrificed their lives to bring the fruits of freedom to the people of the country. Today, we should remember three people. Mahatma Gandhi demonstrated that nonviolence may be used to fight a struggle, Ambedkar turned vote into a weapon in the country, granting equal rights to all. Nehru was a brilliant leader who brought prosperity to a country that was suffering from drought. It is our responsibility to remember and honour these three freedom fighters."
