Revanth Reddy sworn-in as Telangana's first Congress Chief Minister, Bhatti as his deputy

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at LB Stadium on Thursday. The event was attended by thousands of people.

HYDERABAD: Anumula Revanth Reddy has been sworn in as the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana after the State was bifurcated in 2014.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at LB Stadium on Thursday. The event was attended by thousands of people.

Dalit leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka also took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister and was sworn in by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, in the presence of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. Other prominent personalities who attended the event included AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other top Congress leaders.

10 others who took oath as the ministers were: Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy, C Damodar Rajanarasimha, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Konda Surekha, D Anasuya Seethakka, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Jupally Krishna Rao.

The event began on a colourful note. As soon as all the MLAs made their way to the venue, Mallikarjun Kharge made his way to the dais.

The crowd roared with cheer as they were greeted to an unexpected sight of Revanth Reddy making his way to the dais on an open jeep along with Sonia Gandhi. As soon as she made her way onto the stage she met the MLAs and also greeted Revanth's wife, daughter, grandson and son-in-law.

This was immediately followed by the entry of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi who waved enthusiastically to the crowd all the way onto the dais.

Revanth Reddy then made his way to the entrance of the stadium to invite Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.

As the moment of swearing-in neared, Revanth was greeted with a loud roar as he uttered "Anumula Revanth Redddy ane nenu...".

He was then followed by the swearing-in of other Ministers. While all Ministers took oath, the loudest cheer was reserved for Mulugu MLA D Anasuya Seethakka.
