Revanth Reddy’s derogatory comments hurt Telangana police, cases booked

HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Chief (TPCC) A Revanth Reddy is not new to making controversial statements for which his party paid heavily. Even before the dust raked up by his three-hour power enough for farmers' comment settled down, he raked up yet another controversy by threatening police.

Speaking a party meeting, the TPCC Chief said that the Congress Government which would be coming to power within hundred days would strip the Mahbubnagar police naked. “Noting down names of senior police officers in the red diary. When we come to power in 100 days we will strip you naked and will pay you back along with interest, by thrashing you black and blue,” Revanth said.

With his comments drawing flak from the entire police force, cases were booked against the TPCC president under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Nagarkurnool, Bhootpur and Jadcherla police stations. In Nagarkurnool the district police officer’s association registered cases against Revanth Reddy under IPC Sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot) and 504 (intentional insult). Suryapet police also formed a human chain and protested against Revanth Reddy’s comments and the police officer’s association of Suryapet strongly condemned his outbursts.

“Please introspect your derogatory comments. Political parties might comment against us for political gains but we discharge our duties without any bias,” M Ravinder Reddy Siddipet District Police Officers Association president said reacting to Revanth Reddy’s threatening comments on police.

A state apart, in Andhra Pradesh Nara Lokesh, the scion of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) where Revanth attended his political classes before joining the Congress, spoke in the same tenor. “Yes for us NTR is a God, Chandrababu Naidu is our Lord Rama, but Lokesh for YSRCP cadre will be an adamant idiot,” Lokesh said at a roadside meeting threatening the YSRCP cadre.
