HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Tuesday released Rs 1,278.60 crore to around 16,98,957 farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme for the Vanakalam (Kharif)season of 2023-24. The amount was deposited into the bank accounts of farmers.

The scheme, aimed at bringing about a cultivation revolution and enhancing agricultural productivity, is now in its 11th edition. Overall, in the last two days, Rs 1,921.18 crore was deposited in the accounts of 39,54,138 farmers. These farmers own about 38.42 lakh acres of land.

In a statement, Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy appealed to farmers to make good use of Rythu Bandhu funds.

“With continuous availability of water for irrigation and free electricity being provided for 24 hours by the State, every acre has now become arable. All the allied sectors of the agriculture sector are now being strengthened with the establishment of food processing industries. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has given priority to agriculture. His desire is to ensure that the hardworking farmer earns profits and the Telangana Government is implementing Rythu Bandhu with that goal in mind,” he said.
