Rs. 50,000 applicantion fee for Telangana Congress ticket for Assembly, Rs.25,000 for SC, ST aspirants

HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Revanth Reddy said that candidates for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections will be selected based on their ability to win.

Revanth was speaking to the media after releasing the application form compiled by the Congress party for the candidates who want to contest the elections on Friday. He appealed to people not to believe in rumours that the candidates had been finalized.

"The candidates will be selected based on their ability to win the elections. Surveys will be conducted on each applicant's strengths and weaknesses. The social equations and strengths of the candidates will be assessed and a report will be submitted to the Screening Committee. Finally, the Central Election Committee will finalise the candidates," Revanth Reddy said.

He added that the application fee has been fixed at Rs 25,000 for SC and ST candidates and Rs 50,000 for general candidates. "The application fee is non-refundable and will be utilised for party activities. The application process will be accepted till August 25," Revanth said.

The TPCC chief added that if anyone joined the party after August 25 and sought a ticket, the matter would be discussed in the Pradesh Election Committee and a decision would be taken.
