HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Tuesday deposited Rs 550.14 crores into the accounts of 1,60,643 farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. The amount covers 11.3 lakh acres of farmland at Rs 5,000 per acre.

With this, the government has so far disbursed Rs 6,351.22 crores to 62,45,700 farmers over the last 20 days for the Yasangi season out of a total of Rs 7,676 crores sanctioned. It will disburse the remaining amount in the coming days, Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy informed through a press release.

In a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government, Niranjan Reddy alleged that the Centre, which was selling all the public sector units to big corporates, was now conspiring to destroy the food sector by bringing in anti-farmer policies. He said that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), under the leadership of KCR, would prevent these conspiracies and strive to form a farmer-Centric government at the Centre.

The minister reiterated that people across the country were looking at Telangana for the way welfare and development measures were being implemented. He said that BJP was scared of the BRS and hence it was blocking the funds to the state.

Responding to the BRS’ public meeting to be held in Khammam on Wednesday, Niranjan Reddy said that it would be the beginning of a new era and a turning point in national politics. He said that KCR, who took the humongous decision of floating the BRS for the welfare of the country, would address the Khammam meeting and claimed that the event was certain to create ripples in political circles across the country.
