HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government has officially released guidelines for claiming Rs 500 subsidy on LPG cylinders under the Mahalaxmi scheme.

The Government on Tuesday released GO No 2 which stated that LPG domestic cylinders would be supplied at a subsidised rate of Rs 500 per refill to consumers who would fulfill all the three guidelines below

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA:

1) They should have applied for subsidised cylinder through Praja Palana applications drive from December 28, 2023 to January 6, 2024.

2) They should be white ration card (food security card) holders in Telangana

3) They should have active domestic LPG connection in their name.

The subsidised cylinders availed by the consumers would be limited to average of their last three years consumption of cylinders for that household.

MODE OF PAYMENT

1) The State Government would transfer the required amount, in advance, to the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) on a monthly basis.

2. OMCs will then transfer the subsidy amount by Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiaries.

The Government noted that, "This method of release of subsidy is on a pilot basis and civil supplies department and finance department shall explore and come up with model for delivery of cylinder on payment of Rs 500 only."

MONITORING:

The district collectors have been given the responsibility to bring about awareness on the scheme. They have also been asked to arrange the opening of counters for registration, verification and updation of the data of beneficiaries, who may approach for the same. The administration of the scheme would be through the Praja Palana portal and the Civil Supplies department would maintain beneficiary wise release of subsidy in the said portal.
