HYDERABAD: Telangana will experience increased heat beginning February 20, with certain areas expected to experience temperatures that exceed 39 °C.

According to weather experts, some parts of Hyderabad could experience 35–36 °C temperatures after February 20, 2023. The night temperatures will also gradually increase, beginning now.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, low-level winds will primarily blow from the south-east into Telangana state over the next three days.

Telangana may experience dry weather during the next three days.

Telangana weatherman T Balaji said, "Telangana's temperature will steadily rise beginning today. The temperature will rise gradually rather than suddenly. Yet, hotter days are on the way, and so are warmer nights".

"This year, Telangana is expected to be hotter than the last two years. Temperatures in some regions of the state can hit 47°C, while Hyderabad can hit 43-44°C during peak summer months, primarily in May", he added

Balaji said, "Dry winds from north India, crystal clear skies, and sun heading closer to the equator" while describing the current dry weather in Telangana. Temperatures are rising as a result of the seasonal transition. Compared to previous years, this transition has started two weeks earlier," he added.

According to Telangana state maximum temperature table, Khammam district is already experiencing a noticeably sudden spike in heat within a day. Khammam recorded 32.6 degrees on February 19 and 35.6 degrees on February 20,2023. Khammam district had a three-degree temperature spike on Monday.

Hyderabad experienced a 1.7-degree spike, with 32 degrees on February 19 and 33.7 degrees on February 20,2023. The highest temperatures were recorded in Adilabad district on February 20, with 36.3 °C, and 35 °C on February 19,2023.

K. Nagrathna, Director of IMD, said, "Summer should start in March, April, or May, but it will officially begin on March 1, 2023." Yet, temperatures have been rising since the third week of February. Even average values are rising. We will get a clear picture of the summer forecast starting March 1, 2023."

"El Nio conditions are expected to arrive this year, and if they do, not only will the summers be warmer, but the monsoons will also be warmer. We shall wait another week for a clear picture before analysing the temperature rise. It is clear that the maximum and minimum temperatures will be above normal, but the exact numbers will have to wait another week. This year will undoubtedly be warmer than the previous several," she added.

K. Nagrathna did comment on the dry weather, saying, "In fact, inland regions are more dry than coastal regions, and Hyderabad is one of them. Moreover, humidity levels are lower this season, resulting in dry weather in the city as compared to previous years."
