HYDERABAD: Telangana Doctors Association has called-off their decision to boycott outpatient care and elective procedures in government hospitals following a meeting with new Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha on Tuesday.

A delegation of junior doctors held a two-hour meeting with health minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and discussed various issues the doctors were facing.

The minister pledged to establish a green channel for regularizing stipends, with monthly credits due by 15th, and promised the release of new software for smooth stipend processing within 20 days.

The minister assured DNB students of immediate eight-month stipend deposits and promised to resolve stipend delays for private college medical students.

Damodar Raja Narasimha also promised to begin work on the new Osmania Hospital building as soon as possible. He also promised the construction of additional hostels at colleges with limited space.

He also assured the formation of a committee to establish guidelines for working hours to prevent overburdening of postgraduate doctors and interns.
