HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has sought a judicial inquiry into the sagging of pillars of Medigadda barrage of Kaleshwaram project.

The State Government petitioned to the High Court to allot a retired Supreme Court judge or High Court judge for instituting an inquiry into sagging of pillars of Medigadda barrage.The Government informed the High Court that it had already ordered an inquiry by Vigilance and Enforcement department into the issue. The State told the court that it had removed the engineers concerned from service after getting the report from the Vigilance.department.

Action would be initiated against the officers concerned after the final report was received by the government.

The State had already written to the National Dam Safety Authority seeking to constitute a committee to examine the lacuna in the barrage.

The High Court asked the petitioner to have the Central Water Commission to be impleaded in the case.

The case was adjourned by four weeks.

In fact, the Revanth Reddy Government has been asserting it would constitute a judicial inquiry into the Kaleshwaram projects.

If the High Court allows the petition, the State Government would fix the terms of reference for the inquiry.
