HYDERABAD: In a significant decision the Telangana High Court on Wednesday allowed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition seeking the transfer of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) paper leakage case from the purview of the Special Investigation Team’s (SITs) to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The court while overruling the objections against the PIL made it clear that the move was for Impartial investigation. The Court further directed the registry to allow the PIL and give a regular number.

However, the Telangana High Court in March, responding to a petition filed by the National Student Union of India (NSUI) refused to hand over the case to the CBI. But the Court expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of investigation done by the SIT. The Court observed that the SIT made tardy progress even after 1.5 months since the case was handed over to it. The Advocate General at that time said that the SIT was waiting for forensic reports and completed questioning of the TSPSC chairman, Secretary and a member.
