HYDERABAD: Responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by retired Professor of Kakaitya University A Vinayak Reddy, the Telangana High Court on Friday directed the state government to review the appointment of six members to the Telangana State Service Commission (TSPSC).

The government on May 19, 2023, issued a GO (108) appointing Bandi Linga Reddy, Karam Ravinder Reddy, R Satyanarayana, Ramavath Dhan Singh, Sumitra Anand Tanoba and Aravelli Chandrasekhar as members of the state service commission.

The petitioner, however, argued that the members did not possess the required qualifications set by the TSPSC. The court in its order asked the government to complete the review of the qualifications of the six members in question within three months.

The court, however, did not ask the government to scrap their appointments and said that the issue didn’t arise at this juncture. The court also said that the appointment of the members would depend on the present exercise to be undertaken by the government.

The court observed that the government failed to diligently search for the right talent and advised it to select candidates for the key posts of chairman and members of the TSPSC to instill confidence in the minds of the aspirants and the general public.
