HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court issued a stay on Friday regarding the suspension of 106 IKP employees who participated in the election campaign in Siddipet district.

The High Court issued an interim order upon the petition of lawyer Chandrasekhar Reddy, instructing them to resume their duties immediately.

A total of 106 government employees were suspended for attending a meeting held by BRS Medak MP candidate Venkatrami Reddy, in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Former Dubbaka BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao lodged a telephonic complaint with the Election Commission on April 7, 2024, alleging that the BRS party had conducted an unauthorized meeting in violation of MCC rules, in connection with the ensuing General Elections to HOP 2024 (Lok Sabha) at Reddy Function Hall, Siddipet. Some DRDA staff were reported to be attending the said party meeting, with money distribution also alleged to be taking place.

In response, the Flying Squad Team (FST) headed by K. Pruthvi Raj, AEE, Public Health and Municipal Engineering Department, Municipality Siddipet, was directed to take necessary action. They inspected Reddy Function Hall Siddipet and found 10-15 persons still in the meeting. The FST team collected CCTV footage from the management of Reddy Function Hall.

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was discovered that BRS Party leaders had conducted a meeting on April 7, 2024, in the said function hall without obtaining any valid permission from the Assistant Returning Officer-33 Siddipet Assembly Segment within 06 Medak Parliamentary Constituency, in violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Consequently, FIR No. 112/2024, dated April 8, 2024, was lodged before the Sub Inspector of Police, III-Town, against Venkatram Reddy Parupally, BRS Party & Ravinder Reddy Mareddy, BRS party for conducting an unauthorised meeting without obtaining any valid permission, thereby violating the Model Code of Conduct rules issued by the Election Commission of India.

The assistant returning officer, 33-Siddipet Assembly Segment within 06-Medak Parliamentary Constituency & Revenue Divisional Officer, Siddipet, further reported that, based on the CCTV footage, it was found that the following DRDA Staff attended the meeting and requested necessary action to be taken.
