HYDERABAD: Telangana IT and Industries Minister and TRS Working President K T Rama Rao, speaking to the sheep-breeders community in Manneguda on Wednesday, said that Telangana was the only State in the country to focus on the welfare of the Golla Kumaras.

The Minister, ahead of the Munugode by-elections, spoke to the people of Manneguda at Mudiraj Athmeeya Sammelan.

"Before the formation of Telangana, there were only 2,21,000 members in the Sheep Breeders Society. But, now it has enormously increased to 7,61,000. Telangana is the only State which is distributing sheep in two installments with a hefty investment of Rs 11,000 crore to Golla Kurumas," the Minister said. He also said that the Sadar festival as well as the birth anniversary of Doddi Komarayya, the Golla Kumara community Telangana armed struggle hero, would be made official holidays.

KTR also said that the Telangana Government was providing financial assistance of Rs 20 Lakh to those who wanted to study overseas under the Jyotiba Poole scheme and that with a budget of Rs 1000 crores they undertook many programs with 75 percent subsidy for handicraft workers and artisans.
