HYDERABAD: Telangana police officers expressed shock and offered condolences following the sudden demise of Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement, Rajiv Ratan on Tuesday.

Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement, Rajiv Ratan, passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attack while undergoing treatment at the AIG Hospital in the Rayadurgam police station area. IPS officers visited the hospital to pay their respects to their colleague who passed away suddenly while on duty.

The news of his passing has deeply saddened many IPS officers, as he was known for his capability, soft-spoken demeanor, and dedication to his duties. Despite his impending retirement in the next six months, his untimely demise has left a void among his peers. Upon learning of the tragic event, IPS officers promptly visited the AIG hospital to offer their condolences to the bereaved family members.

Telangana DGP Ravi Gupta, Intelligence Additional DGP B Shivadhar Reddy, Railways Road Safety Additional DGP Mahesh M Bhagwat, RTC MD VC Sajjanar, Police Commissioners Avinash Mohanty, Tarun Joshi, and others paid their respects to Vigilance and Enforcement DG Rajiv Ratan.

Funeral to be held on Wednesday afternoon

Arrangements are underway to conduct the final rites of Vigilance and Enforcement Director General Rajiv Ratan on Wednesday afternoon at the Mahaprasthanam. His mortal remains, currently at the AIG Hospital, will be taken to his home on Wednesday morning. In the afternoon, he will be brought to the Mahaprasthanam in the Shaikpet area, where the last rites will be performed.

As an IPS officer job responsibilities in various positions

Rajiv Ratan, a member of the 1991 IPS batch, served as SP of Karimnagar District, IG of Hyderabad Region, Director General of the Fire Department, Additional DGP of Organisation in State DGP Office, Managing Director of Police Housing Corporation, and most recently as Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement of Telangana State. He was scheduled to retire next October but tragically passed away from a heart attack on Tuesday.
