NEW DELHI: Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao and Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh discussed the establishment of Personal Rapid Transit systems (PRTS) and a sewerage development plan for Hyderabad City in New Delhi on Thursday.

The Telangana Minister had put forth two proposals on behalf of the Telangana Government for the PRTS and sewerage development plan.

The proposal for the PRTS was done to cater to the travel demand of commuters of Hyderabad Metro Rail network of 69.00 Km and 46.00-Km of Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS). A ropeway system of 10-km was proposed, which would traverse from State Assembly to Paradise Metro Station with a spur to Khairathabad Metro Station and MMTS.




It was proposed that the Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Limited (IPRRCL) be the consultants for preparation of the feasibility study and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the travel corridor.

The Minister also proposed an elaborate plan of developing the sewerage network in Hyderabad. Phase-I would have 31 Sewerage Treatment Plants of 1250.50-MLD capacity in three packages with a total cost of Rs.3866.21 crores within Hyderabad City. Phase-2 would have 10 STPs of 340.50 MLD costing Rs.1095.50 crores. The plan also included sewer network projects for lateral sewers, sub-mains for 2232 kms and costing Rs 3722.83 crores.

The works once done would ensure Hyderabad Urban Agglomeration (HUA) to have the distinction of processing 100% of its sewage generated and will hold good for next three decades.

The Minister on behalf of the State Government said that the state was keen to take up the implementation of the project and requested the Union Minister for his support.
