Tiger carcass found in Kagaznagar; poisoning suspected

The tiger was found dead near the local stream with a loosened snare around the neck. The team upon initial investigations and observations suspect it to be case of poisoning.

HYDERABAD: Carcass of a male tiger aged about 5-6 years has been found in Darigaon of Kagaznagar range on January 8, 2024.

The spot was approximately 8 Km sway from Khagaznagar. The site was inspected by PCCF (HoFF) RM Dobriyal, PCCF (CWLW) MC Pargain and team appointed by NTCA with forest staff including veterinary surgeons.

The tiger was found dead near the local stream with a loosened snare around the neck. The team upon initial investigations and observations suspect to be case of poisoning.

Samples were to forensics labs for further investigation. The carcass was disposed off as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) norms and the cattle killed found nearby location suspected to be used for poisoning has also been disposed off.

The whole procedure was carried out as per NTCA guidelines. According to forest officials, efforts have been intensified by local staff to apprehend the culprits. An FIR has also been lodged in the local police station.
