TPCC president A Revanth Reddy pitted against KCR in Kamareddy

While the party has yet to announce the candidates for Miryalguda, Suryapet, Tungaturthi and Charminar Assembly seats, it left the Kothagudem seat to the Communist Party of India (CPI).

HYDERABAD: The All India Congress Committee announced candidates for 16 Assembly constituencies on Monday night. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy was fielded from Kamareddy Assembly constituency from where Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is contesting as a second constituency.

The party changed the candidacy of TPCC discipline committee chairman and former minister G Chinna Reddy from Wanaparthy Assembly seat and allotted the same to G Megha Reddy who has been nursing the constituency.

BJP’s erstwhile manifesto committee chairman G Vivekanand who quit the BJP and joined the Congress last week was pitted against MLA Balkan Suman of the BRS from Chennur (SC reserved) constituency.

Koram Kanakaiah is fielded from Yellandu ST constituency, while former BJP leader Enugu Ravinder Reddy was given the ticket from Banswada Assembly constituency against Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. Former Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir would enter the fray from Nizamabad Urban Assmebly seat on behalf of the Congress. The party also replaced its candidate from Boath (ST) seat. It replaced Vennela Ashok whose name was announced in the earlier list with Ade Gajender.

While the party has yet to announce the candidates for Miryalguda, Suryapet, Tungaturthi and Charminar Assembly seats, it left the Kothagudem seat to the Communist Party of India (CPI).

The party had earlier announced candidates for 90 Assembly seats, it announced candidates for 16 constituencies now. Since the candidates from Wanaparthy and Boath are replaced, the total number of candidates announced comes to 114, leaving the remaining four.
