HYDERABAD: The Telangana Congress held its first Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at the Gandhi Bhavan on Monday and has unanimously decided to field Congress leader Sonia Gandhi from the State for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali said, "The PAC unanimously passed a resolution that Sonia Gandhi should contest from Telangana. We will send a letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. Earlier Indira Gandhi contested from Medak. We thank you as the mother who granted Telangana."

Speaking about the other aspects discussed in the PAC meeting, Shabbir Ali said, "We discussed about six guarantees will be implemented in Telangana in 100 days. The Chief Minister will reveal the action plan in the current Assembly session.

"During the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka explained to the members about the financial situation of the State. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy also explained about the irregularities in the irrigation department. Bhatti will give a presentation in the Assembly session about corruption in electricity, finance and irrigation projects," he said.

Shabbir Ali said that gram sabhas in Telangana would be setup where distribution of ration cards, applications for housing scheme and implementation of six guarantees would take place. The sabhas would be held in every village for 15 days from December 28, 2023.

"Incharges for all the 17 Parliamentary seats in the State have been appointed in the meeting. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will be the incharge for Chevella and Mahabubnagar constituencies, Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy will handle Khammam, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has been given the charge of Nalgonda and Minister Ponnam will take care of Karimnagar. The Chief Minister also said that the process of appointment for nominated posts will be completed soon," he added.
