NALGONDA: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has lashed out at the Congress for burdening the people of Telangana with power crisis during its regime and termed it as ‘namesake power supply and not free power supply’.

KTR addressed large gatherings during his roadshows in Yadadri, Bhuvanagiri, and Miryalaguda on Monday and said, “If 24-hour power supply was easy, why didn’t the Congress implement it during its tenure? People should decide if they want power or a dark future. If they choose power, they need to vote for the BRS.”

KTR asserted that BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was the only Chief Minister extending 24-hour power supply to farmers. Highlighting the pro-farmer policies introduced by the BRS, KTR said that the Rythu Bandhu programme was introduced by KCR to ensure financial assistance for farmers and questioned why the Congress did not introduce such a programme during their rule. “KCR has to be re-elected for the continuation of ‘Rythu Bandhu’ which is an investment support scheme for farmers,” he said.

Ridiculing Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy’s comments that the Congress had patents on free power supply, KTR asked where was quality power when the Congress was in Government? “Before 2014, the Congress promised 10 hours of power supply but couldn't even give three hours of power. Do you want the power or the Congress?”. KTR questioned the people and asked them to decide if they wanted to vote for the Congress which gave Rs 200 pension or the BRS which gave Rs 2,000 pension.

Taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BRS working president said, “When Modi was in opposition he lamented over the gas cylinder price hike. After he became Prime Minister, the price of a gas cylinder increased by Rs 800. KCR will bear Rs 800 and provide the gas cylinder for Rs. 400 to the people in Telangana if voted to power.”

Highlighting the failures of the Congress, KTR said that the grand old party couldn't develop Yadagirigutta, failed to give water, and did not implement progressive schemes which were being implemented now by the BRS Government. He said that KCR made Yadadri a new district, developed Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, gave Rythu Bandhu to farmers, power supply, drinking water, KCR Kits, and also established a degree college here.

KTR said that the Yadadri had transformed massively, giving competition to Tirupati. “The upcoming elections will decide the fate of Telangana State and people should make a wise decision while casting their vote on November 30, 2023,” he said. He expressed confidence over Aler candidate Gongidi Sunitha’s victory and assured of taking steps to ensure that autorickshaws would be allowed to travel to the Yadadri temple uphill.

KTR also stressed upon the manifesto of the BRS and emphasised its salient features such as providing Rs 3,000 to women under the Sowbhagya Lakshmi scheme, enhancing the Asara pension to Rs 5,000, Rythu Bhima, and providing fine rice to white ration card holders. In Miryalaguda, KTR asked what had the Congress done in the past when it was in power eleven times. Criticising the Komatireddy brothers, KTR said that the duo had done nothing for Miryalaguda.
