HYDERABAD: Severe heatwave conditions coupled with sporadic and severe thunderstorms in some districts might disrupt normal life in Telangana and parts of Andhra Pradesh in the coming week.

According to Telangana Weatherman X handle, the upcoming storm spell mainly on May 6 night to May 8 would be very intense with very high winds, rains, and thunderstorms which could damage standing crops, uprooting of electrical poles, and trees, resulting in power outages. Hyderabad city would also receive a spell of rain.

The forecast cautioned a serious storm in Yadadri - Bhongir spreading into Nalgonda and Suryapet. The public was cautioned to watch out for heavy winds, lightning, and hails too. Mahabubabad and Khammam reported cloudy weather and rain on Sunday afternoon.

It was also noted that severe thunderstorms started shifting south toward Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet from Jangaon, Mahabubabad, and Bhadradri districts. The public could expect intense winds and scattered storms at a few places next few hours.

Meanwhile, the IMD Telangana centre predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places over Telangana. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) could occur at isolated places in Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Janagaon, Siddipet, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthi, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

By the end of the week, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad districts of Telangana.

The weather bulletin by the IMD for Andhra Pradesh also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 Kmph) likely at isolated places. However, the hot, humid, and discomfort-causing weather would continue in isolated places. Parts of Andhra Pradesh already started experiencing scattered thunderstorms in Paderu, Srisailam, Tirumala, and areas near Bhadrachalam.

However, Nandyal scorched under 46 degrees Celsius on Sunday, followed by Kurnool at 45.9 degrees, Kadapa at 45.4 degrees, and Anantapur at 44.7 degrees. Jangameshwarapuram with 44. 8 degrees was the hottest in coastal AP.
