HYDERABAD: Former Finance Minister and BRS leader Harish Rao has asked why the Congress Government has not deposited Rythu Bandhu in the bank accounts of farmers yet, as promised during the election campaign.
Speaking to media at the Assembly point, Harish Rao said, "The Congress had promised to give Rythu Bandhu on December 9. All the farmers are eagerly waiting for the new Telangana Government to act."
"During its campaign, the Congress promised to buy grains by providing an additional bonus of Rs 500 per quintal to farmers after it comes to power. When will it be given?
"Secondly, the Congress promised to increase Rythu Bandhu aid to Rs 15,000 from the present Rs 10,000 during elections. The Yasingi season has begun. We have always deposited Rythu Bandhu aid in November last week or December first week when we were in power. You promised to deposit this amount on December 9 but nothing has been announced today. Please clarify when the amount will be deposited," asked Harish Rao.
