Where is the allocation for One tola gold promised to brides’ families for wedding, asks BRS MLC Kavitha

HYDERABAD: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said that the interim budget presented by the Finance Minister in the Assembly and IT Minister in the Council on Saturday proved that the Government was good only in changing schemes and could never be a game changer Government.

Addressing the media along with former Minister Satyavathi Rathod, she recalled the earlier BRS Government used to hand over Rs 1,01,116 for the wedding of girls under the Kalyana Lakshmi, Shadi Mubarak scheme and the Congress promised that it would gift one tola of gold in addition to the amount. “Where are the allocations for the scheme and the additional gift in the budget? There was no mention of the scheme in the entire budget,” she said.

Referring to the promise made by the Congress that after coming to power it would recognise Asha workers as Government employees and raise their salaries to Rs 18,000, Kavitha said that there was no such mention of Asha workers in the budget.

Kavitha said that she was disappointed by the first budget presented by the Congress Government. She said that the common man anticipated a lot from this budget paving the way to the implementation of the guarantees.

“The budget in a nutshell depicts the attitude of the Government. The Government wants to escape from its poll time promises, that is why there was no mention of the promises it made in its manifesto in the budget,” she added.

Criticising the paltry allocation of Rs 2,000 crore to minority welfare, she said that the Government made no mention of the Rs 10,000 for Imams and Moazzams and also Tofa e Talim for Muslim children in the budget.

She pointed out that the Government which was so keen on changing names and emblems was not inclined to allocate sufficient funds at least for the core sectors such as agriculture. She said that Hyderabad city was already undergoing three to four hours of power outages whereas K Chandrashekhar Rao’s Government provided round-the-clock quality power to the entire State.
