JAGTIAL: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has appealed to the public to vote the Congress to power in Telangana to revive defunct sugar factories in the State.

Speaking at a rally here on Friday, Rahul said, "The mining, liquor, drug and other mafias are under the control of one family in Telangana. People's aspirations are not being fulfilled. Here your sugar factory is closed. We will revive all the sugar factories once we come to power."

Appealing to farmers, Rahul pitched that that if voted to power, the Congress would give Rs 12,000-Rs 15,000 per quintal for turmeric farmers and that their Government would give Rs 500 more per quintal than the present rate for any crop.

Narrating that he shared a personal bond with the people of Telangana, Rahul said, "I asked Priyanka (Gandhi) to come with me but she had other work. But I said, Priyanka, our family has a connection with Telagnana so you should come with me for the first meeting. Our relationship with Telangana is not political but of love that you shared earlier with Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. So when I come here, I feel happy."

Alledging that the BRS, the BJP and the MIM are working together, Rahul said, "The MIM consults BJP to field candidates across the country. There are no CBI, ED or IT cases against KCR whereas there are 24 cases against me. The BJP targetted my membership in Parliament. I felt happy when the BJP stole my house. I said take it. I don't want a house, Hindustan is my house. I have a house in every village of Telangana.

"Narendra Modi and K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) are stealing your money and depositing it in the hands of Adani. If they take a decision to do a caste census, these (sugar) factories won't shut down. We will do a caste census across the country and in Telangana when we come to power. Caste census is like an x-ray," he added.

Meanwhile, Khanapur MLA Rekha Naik joined the Congress along with her husband Shyam Naik. The couple were invited to Armoor by TPCC president Revanth Reddy. Rahul Gandhi met the couple and formally invited them into the party.
