HYDERABAD: While the national average of per capita income (PCI) which is a measure of the average income earned per person in a particular period is Rs 1.75 lakh, Telangana topped among big States with Rs 3.09 lakh.

Taking to X former Minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Monday said that the financial year 2022-23 figures vindicated K Chandrashekar Rao’s claim that he had developed the State during his decade-long tenure. “Certain political parties might say that KCR did nothing, but one cannot erase the development achieved by KCR in every facet of the State,” he stated.

A startup entrepreneur Nayini Anurag Reddy also marked the achievement of Telangana through the handle and said Telangana led the country with the highest PCI but the real beauty doesn't end there.

Every single district of Telangana boasts a higher Per Capita Income than the national average PCI. The only Indian state with such success,” he added.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and economic surveys of these states, Telangana was among the five southern Indian states that had a 30 percent share of India’s GDP. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, and Kerala, were the other States that contributed to the might of the country during the financial year 2023.

Factors that made these States major providers of the country’s GDP include Per capita Income: on this parameter, in the financial year 2023, Telangana recorded the highest per capita income followed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and lastly Andhra Pradesh.

The estimated per capita income across the small State Sikkim was the highest among Indian states at around Rs 5.19 lakh in the financial year 2023. Meanwhile, it was the lowest in the northern state of Bihar at over Rs 54, 000.
