HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow Warning' predicting heavy rains in some parts of Telangana and scattered rains with thunder and lightning for the next three days, beginning from Saturday.

A low pressure was formed around Jharkhand and it spread up to 1.5 km above the sea level through Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha till Telangana. Low-level winds were also blowing from the west direction in Telangana, the IMD said. Heavy rain is very likely to occur in isolated locations in Telangana districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Siricilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal and Hanamkonda on Saturday.

The IMD also warned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to occur in isolated places in Telangana on Sunday. With regard to Hyderabad’s forecast, the IMD said that there would generally be a cloudy sky, which would remain in place until Monday, highlighting the likelihood of moderate to heavy showers during this period.

Taking to X (formally Twitter) T Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman said, " As the monsoon withdrawl conditions turning favourable in North India, it's time for Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) to move down and perfectly place over Telangana. This means we will get regular thunderstorms in various parts of Telangana till October 2, later a cyclone may churn up, will update later."

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) predicted light to moderate rains in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Kakinada, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore, Kurnool, Nandyal, Satyasai, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor and Tirupati districts on Saturday.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sai Kiran, popularly known as Vizag Weatherman predicted cyclone possibilities and said, “As per the latest indications. During the first week of October, a cyclone may cross the coast anywhere between Paradip in Odisha and Visakhapatnam. Still no clarity regarding it. Will give more time to time updates from this month end.”
