The collaboration will be rolled out in stages, beginning with capacity building and training for teachers in 2024-25

AMARAVATHI: In a groundbreaking move designed to strengthen the education system and equip students to become globally employable, the Andhra Pradesh government is partnering with International Baccalaureate (IB), which is set to partner with SCERT to design the new curriculum.

The Government envisaged a plan for integrating the IB syllabus with State education system which could make the students globally competitive.

What the collaboration offers:

  • The collaboration will be rolled out in stages, beginning with capacity building and training for teachers in 2024-25.
  • Starting from the 2025-26 academic year, IB will be incorporated for Grade 1, with subsequent grades adopting the curriculum progressively.
  • By 2034-35, all students up to Grade 10 will benefit from the IB approach, culminating in joint IB and state board certifications in April 2035.
  • In 2036-37, IB will be extended to Grade 12, with dual certifications awarded in April 2037, ensuring a seamless transition.

Holistic development: A focus on both theoretical knowledge and practical applications, equipping students with real-world problem-solving skills.

Interdisciplinary learning: Encouraging students to connect concepts across various subjects, fostering a deeper understanding of the world.

Balanced growth: Prioritising classroom learning, skill development, extracurricular activities, and practical experiences for a well-rounded education.

Leadership development: Cultivating critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills to empower students to become impactful leaders.

Creating IB global teacher network with empowered educators:

The initiative includes extensive training and awareness programs for teaching staff, school heads, MEOs, DEOs SCERT & District Institute of Educational Training (DIET), staff of SSC and intermediate boards. By earning IB certifications, teachers will become part of the prestigious IB global teacher network, further strengthening the state's educational system.
