HYDERABAD: Minister Thalasani Srinivas Yadav, on Tuesday, said that the state would be providing financial assistance to temples across the state for organising the Bonalu festival and for temple maintenance, before the Bonalu festival starts.

The Telangana Government had sanctioned Rs.15 crores for the celebrations of the State's official festival. Assistance would be provided to 3,500 temples, both private and government, he said.

The temples in Secunderabad which would hold the Mahankali Ustav on July 17 would receive cheques in two days and the temples celebrating Bonalu on July 24 would receive cheques on July 18.

Talasani held a teleconference with other Ministers including Mahmood Ali, Sabita Indra Reddy, several MLAs, MLCs and Collectors from his office at Masab Tank.

He said that the arrangements for the festival were being done under the guidance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

He also announced that the Cultural Department would be organising programmes in four areas of each constituency and 25 areas in Old City.

Speaking about the heavy rains, he asked people to step out only if there's an emergency and asked officials to take precautionary measures.
