HYDERABAD: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan on Friday said that the people of the state ended the dictatorship and brought a people's government in the recent elections.

Addressing the State on Republic Day 2024, the Governor of Telangana greeted the people and acknowledged the significance of the Indian Constitution in uniting the nation and credited the architects of the Constitution and the people of the country for the successful progress of the nation over the past 74 years.

The Governor highlighted the importance of the Constitution in empowering the people to remove rulers who went against its spirit through struggles and elections. She mentioned that Telangana was formed with the inspiration of the Constitution and its rights and expressed delight in the formation of the people's government in Telangana and the revival of constitutional merits, systems, and practices. She emphasised that democracy, welfare, and development can only be achieved when the government follows the spirit of the Constitution.


The Governor mentioned that the government had already implemented two of the six guarantees promised to the people, including the Mahalaxmi Scheme, which provided free bus transportation for over 11 crore women. "The government's main objective is to fulfil the remaining guarantees within 100 days," the Governor asserted, acknowledging the financial challenges faced by the state due to the previous government's mismanagement. She assured that the new government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is determined to make Telangana compete with the world regarding welfare and development.

Tamilisai Soundarajan also said that the government's top priority was welfare of the people and delivering benefits to every eligible beneficiary. She stated that the government received over 1.25 crore applications seeking various benefits, and an action plan was being prepared to address the people's grievances. The Governor highlighted the government's focus on providing employment opportunities for the youth, and the reform process for the Telangana State Public Service Commission was underway. She urged the youth to trust the government's sincerity in providing jobs.

She commended the state's success in securing investments worth Rs 40,232 crore during the Chief Minister's visit to Davos, which is expected to boost industrial growth and employment generation and assured that the government is committed to the welfare of farmers, with initiatives such as the provision of 24-hour quality free power and implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme. She said that the government was also working on a loan waiver scheme for farmers and holding talks with banks.

The Governor lauded the accessibility of the government to the common man, with Cabinet ministers available to hear public grievances and the launch of the Praja Vani program at the grassroots level.

The Governor expressed her pride in Telangana's progress. She reaffirmed the government's commitment to the welfare of the people, especially the marginalised communities, in the spirit of the constitution. She wished for the continued development and improvement of people's living standards in Telangana.
