HYDERABAD: The heir of the Kakatiya dynasty, Maharaja Kamal Chandra Bhanj Deo, received a grand welcome on Thursday at the Bhadrakali temple in Warangal as part of the seven-day 'Kakatiya Vaibhava Saptaham' being organised by the Telangana Government.

'Dholu' artists and Perini dancers showcased their performances as he walked into the temple, where a special pooja was performed.

Kamal Chandra Bhanj Deo expressed his happiness of coming to his ancestral land and said that their sole aim was to serve people. He said that service-oriented programs were still continuing in Bastar. He also said that he was proud to be part of the cultural fests and thanked the leaders for organising a grand welcome.

The Telangana Government is organising the Kakatiya Vaibhava Week in Warangal and Hyderabad for seven days starting today, with the aim of preserving the history, glory of governance and the art of the Kakatiya dynasty that had ruled Deccan India for centuries.

As part of the celebrations, plays, conferences, elocution, and essay competitions for students will be organised for seven days on the glory of Kakatiya.

Tourism Minister Srinivas Goud inaugurated the festival in Warangal. Minister Satyavathi Rathode, Government Chief Whip Vinay Bhaskar, MLA Nannapaneni Narendra and district officials also performed in the pooja.

Srinivas Goud said that with the persistence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the world now knew the history of Kakatiyas. He also showed gratitude to KCR for having shown love to Warangal.

Minister Satyavathi Rathode said that she was happy to be born on the Kakatiya soil. She said that the rule of Kakatiyas was an inspiration to governments. She said that she was happy to organise the Kakatiya festival.
