KCR leaves for Warangal; to stay at Ex-MP's house

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister KCR on Saturday left for Warangal by road to inspect the flood-hit areas in the Godavari basin. KCR will stop at Pembarthy where he will inspect handicrafts before holding a meeting with senior TRS leaders. Later he will stay at Capt. Lakshmi Kantha Rao's house for an overnight halt.

On Sunday morning, the chief minister will take off in a helicopter from Warangal Arts College ground to take a first-hand look at the gravity of the flood situation in in the catchment area of river Godavari. His aerial survey will continue in the Godavari basin from Kadem to Bhadrachalam. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar will accompany him during the aerial survey.

KCR is also likely to some flooded areas and monitor the relief measures being put in place there. The chief minister is expected to see for himself the hardships of the people due to the calamity. Besides reassuring the victims of quickly restoring normalcy, he is also likely to announce financial assistance for distress relief.

KCR will be holding a review meeting with ministers and other people's representatives besides district collectors and officials of the relevant departments deployed for relief and rescue operations. The government will also focus on the measures needed in post-flood scenario and assess the damage caused to electricity and roads departments, crops and drinking water. KCR is also expected to direct health and medical department to be on their utmost guard in disease control due to the likelihood of an outbreak after every flood.
