HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) condemned the attack on Achampet MLA Guvvala Balaraju by Congress candidate Vamsi Krishna during a clash that broke out between the BRS and the Congress workers in Nagarkurnool district on Saturday.

KTR met Guvvala Balaraju, who is undergoing treatment after being injured in a stone-pelting attack by Congress party workers in Achampet constituency, at Apollo hospital here on Sunday.

“Unfortunately, in Telangana, this time, we have seen a couple of incidents of violence. Such a culture has never been seen in the State and violence certainly has no place in democracy. We will not tolerate rowdyism in politics,” KTR said while addressing the media.

The BRS working president alleged that the Congress was resorting to attacks on the BRS leaders because of the frustration of defeat in the coming Assembly elections.

“We are appealing to DGP Anjani Kumar to strengthen the security of Balaraju. The BRS will definitely form the Government. The law will take its own course and whoever has done this will have to face the consequences,” KTR said.

Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao also met Balaraju and enquired about his health condition with the doctors. “Attacks on political opponents are disgraceful and have no place in a democracy. People should teach a lesson through voting in the elections to put an end to this culture. The BRS will protect Balaraju at any cost,” he said.
