Man lynched to death on suspicion of being child lifter in Nizamabad

NIZAMABAD: One person, suspected to be child lifter, was lynched to death in Nizamabad town on Tuesday night.

People caught one person Barla Raju, suspecting him to be a child lifter, and attacked him brutally.

The mobs were under the impression that Raju was kidnapping children and slicing out of their organs and selling them.

Though the police were advising the people not to trust the rumour about the child lifters and kidnaps, it did not yield any result.

In fact, rumours were rife in the town that there were gangs running around abducting and dismembering young children with a view to selling the organs.

Due to these rumours, parents, school owners and staff became alert. But, if anything happens in rural areas, some aggressive groups were going there and unleashing a reign of terror.

People with mental challenges, beggars and vagabonds are being targeted and harassed by these groups.

Women surveyors questioned in Kamareddy

Meanwhile, two girls of a political survey agency were attacked on Monday in Kamareddy, also with the same suspicion that they were trying to do a recce to kidnap children. The girls were conducting a political survey and were posing several questions to the people and were noting down their responses. Growing suspicious about their activity, locals gathered there and surrounded them at the Anganwadi centre. While the trembling girls were fumbling to give convincing answers to the questions raised by the people, police reached the scene. They took the girls to the Tahsildar Latha who asked them to show their identity cards and Aadhar cards. After being convinced about their antecedents, the Tahsildar advised them to inform the local police about their activity in advance and then take up the election survey so that any untoward incident could be averte
