AMARAVATI: Andra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy paid rich tributes to his father and late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at his memorial in Idupulapaya estate in Kadapa district on Friday, marking the 73rd birth anniversary of the late leader..

The Chief Minister went to the YSR Ghat in the estate and offered prayers at YSR's 'samadhi'. Jagan said "power doesn't mean arrogance."

YSR Telangana Party president and Jagan's sister Y S Sharmila also paid rich tributes to her father. She was accompanied by YSR's wife Y S Vijayamma.


Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi paid glorious tributes to Dr Reddy. Rahul Gandhi posted on Facebook: "My humble tributes to stalwart Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ji on his birth anniversary.


"His commitment to the development of Andhra Pradesh, and selfless service to the people of the State shall always be remembered."

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committe president A Revanth Reddy demanded that a memorial "smrithi vanam" be created for the late YSR on the lines of memorials of P V Narasimha Rao, Dr Marri Channa Reddy and NTR. He called upon the Congress workers to work towards realising the last wish of Dr Reddy to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. Revanth Reddy eulogised the contributions of Dr YSR, recalling that the later leader balanced the development and welfare of the people. The TPCC chief said that if the TRS Government did not heed to his request to create a memorial, the Congress would do it after coming to power.
