HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad Centre, has predicted a heavy rain forecast on Saturday and Sunday for eight districts in Northern Telangana.

According to the latest weather warnings issued by IMD on Saturday, Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts were expected to receive around 115.6 - 204.4 mm rainfall on Saturday. In the remaining seven districts, around 64.5-115.5 rainfall was expected.

With low pressure forming near Odisha and West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh towards the North Bay of Bengal, the IMD cautioned the disaster response forces to be on alert as the rainfall progressed across the region. The southwest monsoon entered Nizamabad on Friday and was spreading towards Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Medak, Vikarabad and Adilabad districts.

The IMD also predicted that the monsoon would cover the remaining districts of Telangana on Sunday. Extreme heavy rains were expected in Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts. Jagityal, Mulugu, Rajanna Sirisilla and Nizamabad districts would receive heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad received heavy rain at midnight on Friday. Many parts of the city, including Madhapur, Kondapur, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, SR Nagar, Kukatpally received rainfall with thunder and lightning. Rajendra Nagar received the highest rainfall at 96.5 mm, while Balanagar received the lowest rainfall of 12.5 mm in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

According to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), heavy rains are expected in several districts on Saturday. Alluri Sitaramaraju, East Godavari, Eluru, and NTR district's are expected to receive heavy rainfall.

On the other hand, Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram, Anakapalle, Kakinada, Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamaiya, Sri Sathya Sai, Kurnool, and Nandyal districts are likely to experience light and scattered rainfall.
